9 things you can deduct in 2026 (that most people forget)

The Danish service deduction is broader than most realise. Here are the categories people forget — and how to use them.

Most Danes know they can deduct home cleaning from their tax. Fewer know the list is much longer. Here are nine categories that count in 2026 — and that people often forget when claiming.

1. Regular cleaning — including one-offs

Weekly is obvious. But one-off cleanings count too: pre-Christmas deep clean, spring deep clean, one-off before summer holiday. Everything counts toward the 18,300 DKK cap.

2. Move-out cleaning of a private residence

If you live in the apartment as your private residence, you can deduct the move-out cleaning — even after you've moved. Claim it in TastSelv the same year and it's refunded at the annual statement.

3. Post-renovation cleaning

The renovation itself is no longer deductible (håndværkerfradrag was abolished), but the cleaning after is — when it happens in your private home. Easy to miss because the invoice arrives alongside tradesperson invoices.

4. Window cleaning

Separately booked window cleaning counts. Inside and out. One of the services people forget because the invoice is small — but the yearly total adds to the rest.

5. Laundry, ironing and dishwashing

If you have a weekly laundry or ironing service, it counts. Must be a Danish CVR-registered provider with an invoice.

6. In-home childcare

Professional childcare at home — via agency or CVR-registered freelancer — qualifies as servicefradrag. Not a neighbour's kid babysitting, but agency care or home-help.

7. Gardening

Mowing, weeding, pruning, planting. Your private garden (owned or co-op). Holiday home garden also counts if the house is your own. Rental properties don't.

8. Snow removal

Particularly for those with driveways, wide pavements or hedge gates. Ordering a professional — with CVR and digital payment — is deductible. Not the neighbour's kid shovelling for 200 DKK cash.

9. Moving help (limited)

Packing and moving help count partially — typically the ‘non-transport’ portion of a moving invoice if the company specifies it. Ask directly; the better moving companies split the invoice up front.

Frequently asked questions

Does it have to be the same provider?
No. You can freely combine cleaning company, gardening, childcare, window cleaning — as long as each has CVR and you pay digitally.
Do services from foreign companies count?
No, only Danish businesses with CVR and Danish tax registration.
Do they need to be planned service agreements?
No, one-off services count too. The main requirement is digital payment and CVR on the invoice.
What's the cap?
18,300 DKK per person in 2026. Couples can combine to 36,600 DKK. Refund is 26% — up to 4,758 DKK back per person or 9,516 DKK per couple.
