Move-out cleaning in Copenhagen: What does it cost — and how do you get your deposit back?

Move-out cleaning is the one place where skimping hits back hardest: save 500 DKK on cleaning, and your landlord can deduct 3,000 DKK from your deposit. Here's what a proper handover actually costs in Copenhagen in 2026.

AB-92: what the landlord actually checks

AB-92 is the industry standard Danish landlords and housing associations use to judge move-out cleaning. It isn't an opinion, it's a checklist. These are the points that most often fail inspection:

• Oven interior — including trays, racks and behind the glass
• Behind radiators — dust and lint collected for months
• Bathroom grouting — descaled and wiped, not just glanced at
• Cabinets inside (and on top) — all shelves, including the empty ones
• Window sills and frames — dust-free, no marks
• Ventilation grilles — unscrewed and cleaned, not ignored
• Drains — hair-free, not clogged

What does ‘deposit guarantee’ really mean?

When we write that we have a deposit guarantee, it means: if your landlord rejects the cleaning citing AB-92, we come back the same week and fix it. You don't pay a krone extra. The guarantee runs 7 days after the visit — longer than the handover day itself, so you have time to get the landlord's report.

Important to know: the guarantee covers what we did. If there's damage to the property, scratches on the floor, or cabinets that were still full when we arrived, that's a different matter. But everything we agreed to clean — we stand behind it.

The service deduction on move-outs

Move-out cleaning of your private residence qualifies for the Danish servicefradrag in 2026 — cap is 18,300 DKK per person/year, SKAT refunds 26%. On an 80 m² handover at ~3,500 DKK that's roughly 910 DKK back per person. Requirements are the same: digital payment, CVR on invoice, 18+.

Three genuine ways to save (without skimping on the cleaning)

1. Empty the apartment completely before we arrive. Every half hour we spend moving your stuff is half an hour we don't spend cleaning it. Furniture, boxes, fridge — all out.
2. Send photos in advance. If we can estimate the scope without a separate visit, you save both time and coordination.
3. Book early. Peak-month move-outs (May, July, August, October) can go up at the last minute. Two weeks' notice lets us offer a better slot.

Frequently asked questions

Does the apartment need to be empty when you come?

Yes. Fully empty including cabinets and fridge. If there are still furniture or boxes, we can't reach all surfaces, and the cleaning won't pass AB-92.

What if the landlord still complains?

We come back within 48 hours and fix it. No charge. The guarantee lasts 7 days from the visit. It rarely happens — but it's insurance that matters on a day when your deposit is on the line.

Do you clean windows?

No. Window cleaning is a separate craft. We wipe frames and sills, but for the glass itself we refer you to a certified window cleaner — happy to recommend one.

Can I book with 24 hours' notice?

Usually yes if it's a weekday and we have a slot. An urgent surcharge may apply. Write to us in the morning — we reply within two hours.

Do you work weekends?

Yes. Move-outs often land on Fridays or Sundays, and we adapt to that, not the other way around.
